as my grandmother always made eggnog from scratch using a traditional no-cook recipe (see below). grandma's recipe is a very thin drink base with the whipped cream mainly floating on the top. it has some alcohol in it, though not nearly as much as most alcoholic eggnog recipes. it's mainly for flavor.

  • I love eggnog all year long, so i developed this recipe for the 10 months during the year when they don't sell eggnog at my local supermarket. its quick, easy, and there is no risk of salmonella from raw

Kinda think the alcohol will take care of salmonella, and probably just about any other organism! since we are talking alcohol, here is a recipe that i've fine-tuned over some time. enjoy. link is here.; and a happy holidays to all topics: front page news; miscellaneous; keywords: christmas; eggnog; food; recipe

Egg nog martini is more a recipe for a martini with egg nog than an eggnog recipe, but it may be of interest to those who want their egg nog extra-heavy on alcohol. these two recipes for cooked egg nog are easy to make (plus you probably won't have to worry about salmonella even if you're a terrible cook).

Introeasy eggnog-for-one recipe i should also point out that drinkable alcohol will not kill salmonella. and, you could always just use one of the custard style eggnog recipes that cook the egg with milk at 160 degrees.

I want a nice balance of alcohol not an overwhelming amount - i'm going to spend $$$ on prime riblet's not throw it up =) ; so on that note. how much alcohol is too little to kill salmonella?  i have a recipe from good housekeeping, and also,  emeril lagasse has a kicked up! eggnog recipe on the food network website.. Bill, i bet you could come up with a baby safe eggnog recipe. according to the npr video above, researchers have proven that alcohol will kill any salmonella bacteria in your eggnog but you’ll have to make it and let it sit in your fridge for at least three weeks to see any benefit from all that booze.

Food network kitchens suggest caution in consuming raw and lightly cooked eggs due to the slight risk of salmonella or other food-borne illness. this was my first attempt at making eggnog. i used the cooked recipe and it worked like a charm. it tastes so great. i used spiced rum instead of bourbon. i'll never go back

I made this eggnog on christmas day and added quite a bit of groung nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves. i'd recommend adding: 1 t ground nutmeg ; 1 t cinnamon ; 1 tsp ground cloves ; i omitted the alcohol, but i allowed guests to add it as they were pouring their drinks. picture of mama's eggnog recipe

A better method is to simply make a cooked eggnog recipe: 1 qt milk 4 eggs 1/4 c will recipes containing alcohol kill salmonella? no. once alcohol is diluted it no longer effectively kills bacteria. you will stillneed to use pasteurized eggs. keep in mind that simmering eggnog over heat will remove the alcohol.
